It Is Finished

In this painting, I thought about the verse John 19:30. Jesus said, "It is finished." These were the last words Jesus spoke on this Earth. 
Think about when you have a friend or a family member who speaks their final words in their last few moments before leaving this Earth. I can still remember today the last words my dad spoke to me in his last moments before passing away. I treasure what he said even today. 
Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus spoke the most powerful words on the cross "it is finished." Jesus became the final and ultimate sacrifice for our sin. The words "it is finished" means that Jesus work was now completed bearing the penalty for our sins. There was no more penalty left to be paid for sin.
